I wish I could capture for you the fragrance on my little homestead here in Parma! All my lilacs are in full bloom and the fragrance is heavenly! I went to bed last night to the sound of rain falling and this lovely scent wafting in through the windows!
The lovely thing about lilacs is you plant them and then you don't have to worry about them - they just grow and bloom! Several of the bushes here are quite old, some have grown as volunteers, and others like the 'Sensation' on the right were planted several years ago. Now I am on the trail of a yellow one!
