Let me introduce you to MaryJane Butters from MaryJane's farm in Moscow, Idaho! I discovered MaryJane a few years ago while looking for a magazine to take on a trip. Her down to earth lifestyle (she does live on a farm) really appealed to the farm girl in me. Like me, she was raised in the 50's and she brings into remembrance so many things that I experienced as a child in southern Missouri and later on our farm here in Idaho.

As a birthday gift to myself, I purchased three of her books and have been thoroughly enjoying them. Her magazine is fill with down home wisdom, tasty recipes and crafts.

These comfy slippers are made from a pattern in the stitching book. They are very easy and very fast to knit which is good when you knit at turtle speed like me. There are tons of old fashion crochet doily patterns, aprons, knickers, you name it!

The truly awesome thing is she has a bed and breakfast on her farm and it is in a wall tent! I have plans in mind for a visit this summer. When our boys were attending the U of I, we made lots of trips up to the Palouse and I love that area. There are pictures in one of the books that show the tent - looks like a great place to get away from the cares and stress of everyday life. Until then, however, you will find me reading away and enjoying pictures of farm life in the 50's and 60's.
